Accessary / accessory

Accessary is used only when referring to people. It means someone who knowingly helps someone to do something.

A person who helps someone to commit a crime is called an accessary  to the crime.

Accessory is used only when referring to things. It means something that accompanies something else, but is not essential.

            A handbag, a belt or a scarf is an accessory to someone’s clothing.
